The Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association started a seminar series/public lecture. The inaugural lecture was given by Professor Paresh Narayan (President & Founder of APAEA) and Professor at the Monash Business School. The lecture was hosted by the RBF in Suva Fiji. The lecture discussed recent research from Prof. Narayan and his colleagues on "Structural Breaks and the Stock Market Reaction to COVID-19". In this paper, the authors present a new econometric model that allows policy makers to understand the impact of shocks by dealing with all different types of data constraints and modelling issues. The model was presented and an application on how the model works for practical policy making was presented and discussed.
